What English Language learning programmes do you offer?
We offer a one month English for Special Purposes (ESP), culture and language immersion experience. This is designed for professionals or students preparing to enter a career. We also have a one regular English as a Second Language (ESL) Programme. Within the one year period, the four levels listed below can be completed.
How do I qualify for one of the levels indicated above?
Upon completion of the application form, you will be given a placement test, which will determine your starting level in the ESL programme.
How do I get accepted to come and study?
Simply complete our application form and submit with all required documents. If any of your documents need official translation, please scan and send them by email to our office
When can I start?
You can start at the following enrollment times: January, April or September. If however, you are pursuing our ESP programme with a cohort size of 10 or more students, you can enroll at any time.
How long would it take me to complete the ESL Programme?
There are four levels of the ESL programme: Basic/Beginner, Elementary, Intermediate Advanced, A student could complete one level per quarter (12 weeks / 3 months) thus it is possible to complete the four levels, in 4 quarters or one full year.
Is it possible to stay off campus?
Yes, it is possible to stay off campus; however, you would be responsible for locating a place on your own.
Do I need a meal plan?
If you stay off campus, the cafeteria meal plan is not required, but once you are staying in our dormitory, it is required to have a two-meal or three-meal plan. The only exception is if you have submitted medical reasons requiring you to do so.
Can I work on campus?
There may be options available but please note that working is a privilege, and you are coming to be a student first and foremost. Also, working on campus does not afford you enough money to be able to cover your school expenses. Note: it is illegal to work off campus with a student permit.
What is a Student permit and how do I apply?
According to Trinidad and Tobago immigration laws, ESL Students must pay and apply for a student permit. Our student centre can help you with this process. See the fee schedule for the student permit fee. ESP Students do not require a Student Permit, since their stay is no more than 1 month, and is part of a wider student exchange programme.
